What do Billie Holiday, Bob Dylan, and Miles Davis all have in common? They’re all musicians, sure, but they’ve also all cemented a legacy for themselves as being the greatest talents of their respective generations. I recently watched documentaries on each of these amazing artists and I was deeply inspired by their talents, uniqueness, and greatness. It didn’t take long for me to realize that I, myself, have a strong desire to be great. Not only do I want to make money and build a successful business, I have a ravenous urge to revolutionize the design industry and the world of business as a whole. Is it possible? Definitely. The real question is, how do I get there? How do I become a great entrepreneur? While there’s no definitive answer to these questions nor a pre-mapped path to greatness, there are a few essential ingredients that mark greatness; passion, deliberate practice, and consistency.

Is Your True Value Hidden From Customers?
It’s not uncommon for new business owners to feel a bit inferior when attempting to acquire new customers. This can often be linked to a limited amount of previous customer experiences, a small team, an unproven product, or a bevy of additional inhibitions. Such reservations can often lead to paralysis or even an avoidance of prominent customers in the marketplace. Even worse, one may aim low in pricing his or her services because of this. We must realize though, that “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.”
Psycho-Cybernetics Success Strategy to Stop The Evil Voices In Your Head
I’ve been digesting a ton of psycho-cybernetics stuff lately; most notably, Dr. Mawell Maltz’s insightful analysis which shaped this an entire branch of behavioral psychology. Psycho-cybernetics is the mind’s ability to steer itself to positivity, productivity, and to achieving goals. As an entrepreneur and business owner, every day is a crap-shoot and things are always up and down, sideways, forwards and backwards. It’s a roller-coaster ride that can negatively cloud your mind and detrimentally impact your ability to execute on your business strategy if you let it. Since we’ve all been in a funk due to things going on in your business, here’s a good strategy that I just picked-up that has kept me feeling really positive and motivated all week! Continue reading

Why Social Media Day Miami Sucked… For Me
Before I get blacklisted by everyone at the event, let me first say that this is a self-reflection and has nothing to do with the quality of the event or the information presented at the event. I do feel compelled, however, to share insights that may ultimately make future events, such as Social Media Day Miami 2013, better for people individually; certainly for me.
This won’t apply to everyone, but I’m almost certain that many attendees who read this will agree that in retrospect, they made the same mistakes that I’m about to outline here.

The Dark Side of Entrepreneurship: Anger, Confusion, and Self-Doubt
“The real pain of going into business for yourself comes when input far exceeds output and you don’t understand why your best efforts to correct the imbalance are failing.”
There’s no quote more accurate at this particular time in my startup career. Chances are there are many entrepreneurs out there who feel this same way. Know that you’re not alone and that the same desire and passion that thrust you into business will help you scrape and claw your way back to prosperity.
